I was driving down the road early this morning, on my way to spend time with a friend. The sun was large and round in the sky, a welcomed sight after too many days of gray dreary weather that seeped into my soul. I had my sunroof open, my hair was blowing just the right way [...]

I am not afraid of storms for I am learning to sail my ship. ~~ Louisa May Alcott I love that quote. I have a t-shirt with that quote on it that I’m wearing right now as I begin to type these thoughts. I bought it at a shop when I ran my first 5k [...]
Fleeing the Moment

I have a dream, always the same dream, on many occasions, since I was a young child… always the same dream. The people in the dream change, the place that the dream happens changes… the premise stays the same though – a tornado is after me and I can’t out run it. I try — I run [...]

Her: Can’t you just delete the one’s you don’t like? Me: Yes, but… there’s no sense in it. It’s 140 characters, not much room to screw up. Her: Oh, that seems like plenty of room to me. Why would anyone want to do that anyway? Me: I don’t know… it’s fun. It’s relaxing. It makes [...]

I’ve written it here many times… I’m a planner. I like to know what to expect. I like to know the outcome. I like to know if the effort I’m expending is going to pay-off in the end — I like to know. I don’t think this necessarily makes me a bad person or makes [...]
The Lion Roars

It was fitting that the night I wrote about dreams and how we all need dreams in our lives, that I dreamt. Not one of those dreams that whisk you away to a quiet walk on a beach with a friend but one of those dreams that wakes you in a panic and it takes [...]
Sometimes, I Forget To Breathe

I started yoga about 5 1/2 months ago. I say “started yoga” instead of “started doing yoga” for a reason — I think once you start yoga it seeps in to all your daily activities, at least that might be the end result… one I haven’t quite achieved yet. Yoga becomes more about how you [...]
Big Big Dreams

My youngest daughter just graduated from kindergarten. It was really wonderful — seeing all the kids, hearing them speak into the microphone, watching them react to an auditorium filled with their moms and dads and grandparents and friends. It was nice. I wasn’t sad or overcome with the, “oh my baby is growing up” blues. [...]

Violet Beauregarde: [hugs Wonka] Mr.Wonka, I’m Violet Beauregarde. Willy Wonka: [Wonka looks at her terrified as she chews her gum] Oh. I don’t care. Violet Beauregarde: Well, you should care because I’m the girl who’s gonna win the special prize at the end. Willy Wonka: Well, you do seem confident and confidence is key My [...]
